Roof Sheeting

In Pre-Engineered Buildings (PEBs), roof sheets serve as the primary protective envelope, engineered for high strength-to-weight ratios to minimize structural load while ensuring long-term weather resistance. They are typically manufactured from high-tensile steel or aluminium and are available in various profiles and coatings to suit specific environmental needs.

Common Roofing Materials

• Galvalume Sheets: A hybrid coating of 55% aluminium, 43.5% zinc, and 1.5% silicon. It is the "gold standard" for PEBs due to its superior corrosion resistance and high solar reflectance, which keeps building interiors cooler.
• Galvanized Iron (GI) Sheets: Coated with pure zinc. While more affordable upfront, they have a shorter lifespan (15-20 years) compared to Galvalume (40-70 years) and are better suited for dry inland zones or temporary structures.

• Color-Coated Sheets (PPGL/PPGI): These are Galvalume or Galvanized sheets with additional factory-applied paint layers (like JSW Everglow's 8-layer protection) for enhanced aesthetics and UV resistance.
• PUF Panels: Insulated sandwich panels with a polyurethane foam core between two metal sheets. They are essential for temperature-controlled facilities like cold storage or pharma hubs.

Popular Roof Profiles

• Trapezoidal (Hi-Rib) Profile: The most common industrial profile, featuring high ribs that provide excellent drainage and structural rigidity.
• Standing Seam Profile: Panels are joined with a 360-degree raised seam without piercing the surface with screws, making it a 100% leak-proof system ideal for low-slope roofs.
• Corrugated (Wavy) Profile: A cost-effective, traditional pattern often used in agricultural or budget-conscious projects.
• Skylight Panels: Translucent panels made of polycarbonate or fiberglass integrated into the roof to allow natural light, reducing electricity costs.
